On Pedophilia and Catholic Anti-Choice Mania

Today, @ClinicEscort RT’d an interesting article and I think that I should try to comment on it.

Halloween at the Catholic Church

If you want the TL;DR version of this post, here it is. Apparently, pedophile priests are less important in the Catholic mind than a pro-choice Catholic. Seriously, that is what the author of this article is trying to convey – that priests that rape children are less of a problem than Catholics that support a woman’s right to choose what happens with her own body. It is no surprise to hear this kind of thing anymore, Catholics in varying levels of authority up to and including the pope have refused to take serious action regarding the rash of pedophilia that currently plagues the church. I have even heard the pope try to shift the importance of this issue to atheism, because not believing in a god is so much worse than a priest raping a child and the church covering it up.

Seriously, this is the mentality that you have to deal with when you deal with an anti-choice Catholic. I am at a loss for words to describe how seriously fucked up this belief system is, if it causes people to try to brush off pedophilia. When coach Joe Paterno was discovered covering up sexual assault allegations, the shit hit the fan and a number of people either had to resign or were fired from their positions. Why is it that the Catholic Church has to do things, no pun intended, ass backwards? Instead of submitting the pedophile priests to face justice, the Pope and his assigns moves them around so that they do not have to face legal consequences for their actions.

So, let me ask you – why on earth would you trust an organization that tries to claim that denying women the right to choose what happens to their own bodies is something to fight against but pedophilia in their own organization is a non-issue?
